Day 1: 31 July 2010: Depart Sydney for Los Angeles on flight DL 16 –departing at 0910/ and arriving Las Angeles at 0600. On arrival in the US after clearing customs continue on to Las Vegas on flight DL 4626 departing Los Angeles at 0845 arriving at Las Vegas at 0953. (Flights). Note: Sufficient time will be made on arrival in Los Angeles to clear immigration and customs, prior to joining our connecting flight to Las Vegas.
Accommodation: The Flamingo Hilton Las Vegas, 3 Nights 31 July – 2 August.
Days 2 & 3: 1 & 2 August 2010: Las Vegas at leisure. Check out the fabulous Las Vegas Casinos. Catch a show or two. Or why not take a tour to the Grand Canyon, Boulder Dam, Monument Valley or a Colorado River rafting experience.
Day 4: 3 August 2010: Depart Las Vegas to San Antonio Texas on Flight DL2940/3605 departing Las Vegas at 0645 arriving San Antonio at 1315
Accommodation: The Historic Menger Hotel. 3 Nights 3 – 5 August. (Remember: Whilst in San Antonio take in some of those real Texas feelings that Elvis loved and we have all heard so much about over the years.)
Day 5: 4 August 2010: San Antonio Half-Day City Tour.
Afternoon Free to explore sites.
Day 6: 5 August 2010: Day Free to explore San Antonio at leisure, why not visit the Historic Alamo or explore the Elvis sights.
Day 7: 6 August 2010: Depart San Antonio to New Orleans on Flight DL4035/2859 departing San Antonio at 1152 arriving New Orleans at 1545.
Accommodation in the Le Richelieu in the historical French Quarter, a short walk from Bourbon Street. 3 Nights 6 – 8 August. (Remember: Whilst in New Orleans to take in the Bourbon Street Nightlife).
Day 8 & 9: 6 August 2010: 2 Free Days to explore the French Quarter.
Take a walk through Jackson Square and other French Quarter venues where Elvis filmed "King Creole". Jim will host a walking tour of the locations were King Creole was filmed. Take in the life of Bourbon Street and enjoy the Dixieland Jazz and Cajun music. Enjoy a Creole or Cajun meal. Tour the nearby ante-bellum (pre Civil War) plantation homes or the bayou country. Maybe visit the Chalmette Battlefield where Andy Jackson won the famous battle of New Orleans on 8 January 1815. Go to the Confederate Museum, which houses the largest collection of Confederate uniforms, artefacts, etc outside of Richmond, Virginia.
Day 10: 9 August 2010: Depart New Orleans to Vicksburg. (Coach)
Accommodation: The Battlefield Inn at Vicksburg. 2 Nights 9 & 10 August.
Today we travel by coach from New Orleans to Vicksburg for a two-night stay at the Battlefield Inn.
On today’s coach trip we will travel through the Louisiana Bayou Country.
This afternoon why not take a walking tour of the Vicksburg Battlefield, the scene of some of the most ferocious fighting in the American Civil War or go down town and view Vicksburg and it’s Old World charm.
Day 11: 10 August 2010: Sightseeing tour to Shreveport.(Coach) Visit Shreveport’s Elvis sights. (Note: Elvis played a very large number of concerts in Shreveport, the home of the Louisiana Hayride, Elvis Presley Avenue and the New Elvis Statue) this is one place that not many fan clubs visit.
Day 12: 11 August 2010: Depart Vicksburg to Memphis (Coach).
On today’s coach trip we will also visit Tupelo, Mississippi (Elvis’ Birthplace) where sufficient time will be given to tour the birthplace and museum as well as seeing some beautiful American countryside.
Accommodation: The Clarion Hotel Memphis Airport, 1471 E Brooks Road. 6 Nights 11 – 16 August.
Day 13: 12 August 2010: All day coach tour of Elvis sights in Memphis including Sun Records, Lauderdale Court and Humes High School with sufficient time given for you to tour inside if you like. We will visit Beale Street around lunch time and spend plenty of time their for tour group to purchase lunch.
Please Note: Entry costs to Sun Studios, Hume High School and Lauderdale Courts are not included.
Day 14 to 17: 13 - 16 August 2010: At Leisure. Well, this is what you have come to see - ‘Elvis Week’ - and your are in the heart of it. A short walk to Graceland to see all the activities of Elvis week. Next door to a number of the Convention Hotels to visit and do some serious souvenir hunting.
There will be a number of Elvis related events happening in Memphis. Prior to the tour departure in early 2010, tour participants will receive a booklet containing all Memphis events.
Remember the CandleLight Vigil commences outside the gates of Graceland at 8.30pm on 15 August.
Day 18: 17 August 2010: Depart Memphis to Los Angeles Flight DL 2817 departing Memphis 0915 and arriving Los Angeles at 1128 then coach transfer to Anaheim.
Accommodation at Fairfield Inn Anaheim 3 Nights. Dates 17 – 19 August. (Please Note: We have an early evening departure from Anaheim to LA International airport for our departures home on 20 August).
Day19 & 20. 18, 19 & 20 August 2010: Anaheim at leisure. We have included a one-day Disneyland pass in the tour cost which you may wish to upgrade to a 2 day pass or, alternatively, why not visit Hollywood, Universal Studios, Tijuana, Mexico etc. or other LA sights.
